:((
luv u anyway emmy!
hello girls. thanx 4 the dedication...
:-)
I am not very clever, I have to admit, so i am not sure I understnad what's going on in this blog and who's posting every time but... anyhoo. Girls... what could one expect?
Wow! You're dating mr. Laser Pants? That's fantastic!!!
Yeah, I understand why you would go to see Moz live. he still got it, no doubt about that... And the latest album is really good [thanx to Jerry Finn, famous American punk producer] and the double edition with the b sides does really worth the trouble.
So, the first [and best tribute] is called THE SMITHS IS DEAD and it's a tribute for the tenth anniversary of the Queen in Dead release. It includes Placebo, Supergrass, Therapy?, High Llamas, The Divine Comedy, Bis, Trash Can Sinatras, The Boo Radleys etc. The critics hated it but I like it. Unfortunately is kind of difficult to spot a copy, as it was released in a french label...
The other one is called HOW SOON IS NOW and it includes mostly American emo-core bands covering the Smiths catalogue. Not bad at all [although the shouting vocals will sound strange at first] but not exactly essential. Most bands are not well known, so I skip their names...
Furthermore, Johnny Marr & The Healers' album is mediocre, whereas all Electronic albums are a rather rewarding listening experience.
Oh, and you friend Moz has been involved in Nancy Sinatra's comeback, the reissue of a Jobriath compilation and a cd called UNDER THE INFLUENCE, where the man himself picks up his facorite tracks.
But, nevermind all that, the best Smiths tribute band will always be GENE - and they can almost fool you their songs are brand new!!!
That would be enough for firt class.
Cheers
well, actually the smiths is dead was an Uncut mag cd, along with a Smiths Issue
Maybe it was a re-issue Noheathen. Trust me, Les Inrockuptibles, the best French music mag, was the media partner in this release, ages ago, The album was later distributed in Europe by Sony Music. I didn't know that Uncut had this compilation as a premium cd - great bargain for the ones who obtained a copy, as it's deleted now!!!
Ah, the young today... They're so confident they know it all...
